Is tweeting considered a form of intellectual property for millennials?

Intellectual property is someone's own work or writing that is able to be published. A lot of times, these things are posted and published on social media. Twitter is considered a form of a micro blogging, and millions of people, especially millennials, are tweeting their creative thoughts daily. This generation relies heavily on social media to spread their ideas across the internet. While you wouldn't necessarily apply for a patent for a tweet, I think that tweeting is a form of intellectual property today. Many people tweet their original thoughts and come up with funny jokes or serious words for the sole purpose of it being seen. If they tweet it, they are wanting it to circulate throughout the internet and for people to read it. Twitter is a way to express emotions and this is done by tweeting your own words or retweeting what others have to say.

Since Twitter is so popular today, people not only have personal accounts, but they also make accounts based on a hobby or an interest. There are many Twitter accounts that focus primarily on UNC sports, the UNC basketball team, and even the head coach Roy Williams. These accounts are made to share ideas about the players, the opponents, and the outcomes of games. People who run these accounts write opinions about these things and share articles of what other people are saying about UNC basketball too. Since Twitter allows you to create your own content and easily share what other are saying and thinking, I think it is considered a form of intellectual property.
